The Brander Vineyard, situated on over 45 acres of land just east of Los Olivos, was purchased by the Brander family in 1974. The site was chosen by Fred Brander due to its propitious combination of factors: a gently south-facing aspect, excellent soil and a climate ideally suited to growing the grape varieties normally found in the Bordeaux region of France. The wine production is located on the estate vineyard, mere yards from the nearest vines.
This proximity allows them the great luxury of processing the grapes almost immediately after they are harvested in the fall, which has a tremendous beneficial impact on their wines. Brander is committed to maintaining environmentally sustainable viticulture and winemaking. They assiduously follow organic and biodynamic principles, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. They strive for their methods to be environmentally sound, economically feasible and socially equitable whenever possible.
