Laurent Kraft remembers working his family’s vineyards in Vouvray alongside his grandfather when he was three years old. Laurent may be the seventh generation to farm in the Loire, but this overachiever has certainly distinguished himself by an indefatigable passion for defending Vouvray’s terroirs. After finishing his studies viticulture and enology in Touraine, he left for Bordeaux to pursue a degree in commerce. He returned to the Loire in 1992 to take over the family’s small property, growing the estate to 19 hectares on the prime, south-facing banks of the Loire River. Since then Laurent has played a pivotal role in the region, presiding over the appellation’s technical commission as well as serving as an inspector to ensure that his peers are meeting appellation`s the high standards.
