Tenuta di Valgiano sits in the hills overlooking the city of Lucca, tucked between the Apennine mountains and the Tyrrhenian coast. The estate was purchased in 1992 by Moreno Petrini, a local, and Laura di Collobiano, who came to Tuscany from her native Piedmont in the late 1980s. Together they took on the hard work of managing the vineyard, enlisting the help of enologist Saverio Petrilli, who is renowned for his work promoting natural winemaking.
The 40-hectare property comprises 16 hectares of vines as well as olive and fruit trees, vegetables, wheat, and various animals. All work is biodynamic (with Demeter certification since2002), following the teachings of Alex Podolinsky. Thanks to this straightforward, pragmatic approach, the vines and the soil have reached the ideal balance, producing healthy grapes that express the terroir and the unique climatic conditions of each vintage.
Only 45,000 bottles are produced here each year, and the distinctive character, drinkability, and beautiful balance of the wines have made them perennial favorites on the local market and around the world.
Certified organic and biodynamic by AIAB and Demeter.
